Why a Central Coast arborist

Three things every Central Coast tree job should get right.

Spotted gum and angophora drop limbs — without warning.

Most Central Coast blocks carry mature spotted gum (Corymbia maculata) and Sydney red gum / angophora (Angophora costata). Both are beautiful, both are notorious for sudden summer limb drop — angophora especially sheds large limbs in still, hot weather and after the salt-laden coastal wind stresses the canopy. Reading which limbs are a genuine failure risk, and reducing weight correctly rather than just lopping, is the difference between a safe tree and one that puts a branch through a roof. We assess structure, not just height.

The permit rules are strict — get them wrong and it's a big fine.

Under Central Coast Council's Tree and Vegetation Management controls, most established trees on private land are protected, and removal or major pruning usually needs an approved Private Tree Works application first. Dead trees, declared weeds and genuine imminent-risk situations can be exempt, and AS 4373-compliant pruning of some species is allowed — but the line is easy to cross. We tell you up front whether your tree is exempt or needs a permit, and we can write the arborist report Council needs to approve it.

Storm and bushfire exposure change the priorities.

The Central Coast cops East Coast Low storms that bring down limbs and whole trees, and large areas — the Woy Woy peninsula, bushland-backed Erina, parts of Wyong — sit on RFS-mapped bushfire-prone land. That means two extra jobs a generalist misses: keeping high-risk limbs off the house before storm season, and using the RFS 10/50 clearing entitlement correctly to reduce fuel near the home where your property qualifies. We check the RFS tool for your address before relying on it.
